I’m Chelsea Allen, a self-taught artist from Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador. I work mainly in oils and have been painting for over a decade, but it’s in the last few years that I’ve really found my voice through florals. There’s something about painting flowers—how soft, vibrant, and full of life they are—that just feels like home to me.

My inspiration comes from nature—local gardens, winding trails, and the quiet beauty I find when I’m outside exploring. I usually have my camera with me, snapping photos of whatever catches my eye. That love for flowers started early, watching my Nan, Rowena tend to her garden. I remember how tall and lush everything seemed, and that sense of wonder has never really left me.

While I’ve tried lots of mediums, oil paint is where everything clicked. I love the richness, the texture, and how it lets me bring what I see—and feel—to the canvas. Canadian artist Tim Packer has been a big influence on my journey; his courses helped me grow more confident in my style and direction. Through my paintings, I hope to create that feeling of stepping into a hidden garden—peaceful, colourful, and full of quiet magic.
